British car manufacturing outputs grew by 9.9% year-on-year from 60,554 units produced in April 2022 to 66,527 units during April 2023, marking the third straight month that the country has seen its vehicle outputs increase according to data published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) May 25.

International exports during April 2023 grew to 54,820 units, a 14.7% increase compared to 2022, and the third consecutive month that exports from the U.K. increased by double-digit percentages with 82.4% of the vehicles manufactured during April 2023 in the United Kingdom exported to other countries. Simultaneously, domestic car manufacturing rates in the U.K. fell by 8.3% year-on-year to 11,707 units during April 2023.

Through the first four months of 2023, the United Kingdom has manufactured 286,414 cars, a 6.9% increase compared to the first four months of 2022. Year-to-date exports for the United Kingdom have risen by 8.4% during the first four months of 2023 while domestic manufacturing rates have also increased by 1.3%.
