The railroad management software provider TransmertiQ announced September 6 that it had added Shop Locator and Program Maintenance tools to its offerings.

The TransmetriQ Program Maintenance feature provides a description of the work that needs to be done on a train car, alerts related to necessary maintenance work and a view of car and program progress as well as access to fleet health and location data.

The Shop Locator identifies potential locations where repairs can take place, initiates shopping requests at repair facilities and communicates with shops to determine their availability and rates.

“Historically, it’s been challenging to execute program maintenance and repairs in a way that causes the least disruption to operations,” said Gregg Phillips, product manager for TransmetriQ. “These new features aid fleet managers in identifying opportunities to execute maintenance, selecting a repair shop and initiating the shop request, all within seconds — ultimately getting cars back into revenue service faster.”

The new features are part of TransmetriQ’s Asset Manager service, which is designed to help shippers and car owners gather information on their fleets.
