Teledyne e2v HiRel Electronics of Milpitas, CA, USA (part of the Teledyne Defense Electronics Group that provides solutions, sub-systems and components to the space, transportation, defense and industrial markets) has announced the availability of the TDLNA002093SEP rad-tolerant L- and S-band low-noise amplifier, suitable for demanding high-reliability space and radar applications where low noise figure, minimal power consumption and small package footprint are mission-critical. Developed on 0.15μm indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) pseudomorphic high-electron-mobility transistor (pHEMT) technology, the new LNA is available in a 6-pin dual-flat no-lead (DFN) 1.5mm x 1.5mm x 0.8mm plastic surface-mount package.

The TDLNA002093SEP LNA leverages monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) design techniques that deliver what is claimed to be exceptional performance across both the L- and S-band communication channels. The amplifier delivers a gain of 21dB for frequencies of 1–6GHz while maintaining a noise figure of less than 0.37dB and an output power (P1dB) of 19dBm. The device utilizes application-specific biasing and can be biased over a VDD range of 2.7–5V and an IDDQ range of 30–100mA. A Class-K evaluation kit is also available for customer evaluation.

“With a noise figure of less than 0.37dB coupled with ease of use from a positive single-supply voltage, we believe this new product will enable system designers with a superior solution for both space-based communication, phased array radar, and communications system applications,” says VP & business development manager Mont Taylor.

The TDLNA002093SEP is TID radiation tolerant to 100krad (Si), making it suitable for satellite communication systems by increasing the power of radio signals with minimal noise and signal distortion.

Shipped from the firm’s DoD Trusted Facility in Milpitas, devices are available for ordering and shipment now, from Teledyne e2v HiRel or an authorized distributor, in commercial versions and with the option of Classes H- and K-equivalent screening.
