Format and Schedule

There are three stages of competition – Play-In, Group Stage and Playoffs.

Firstly, the Play-in takes place between July 19-20th. Here, two groups of six teams compete in a single round robin with BO2 matches. The following teams are seeded into this stage:

Play-In Seeds according to EPT Ranking:

• General Ranking – Team Secret, Xtreme Gaming, Entity, Virtus.pro, OG
• SEA – Execration
• CN – Team Aster
• SA – beastcoast
• NA – TSM
• EEU – 9Pandas
• WEU – Team Liquid

From this stage, only the top two teams from each group move onto the Group Stage. Meanwhile, 3-6th teams from each group are matches, two more teams move on to the Group Stage, going up against the Dota 2 odds.

Here’s how the Play-In Groups have been determined:

Play-In:

• A: Entity, Execration, Team Aster, Team Liquid, TSM, Virtus.pro
• B: 9Pandas, beastcoast, OG, Quest Esports, Team Secret, Xtreme Gaming

Once in the Group Stage, two groups of eight compete between July 21-24th. Teams from Play-In will join the following teams already seeded for the Group Stage:

• DreamLeague S19 Champions – Gaimin Gladiators
• DreamLeague S20 Champions – BetBoom Team
• DL Average Placement – PSG.LGD, Evil Geniuses, Tundra Esports, Shopify Rebellion, Team Spirit, Talon Esports

Again, single round robin with BO2 matches will allow the top four teams from each group to seed to the Upper Bracket of the Playoffs. Meanwhile, 5-6th place of each group seeds to the Lower Bracket of the Playoffs.

Here’s what the Groups currently look like as Play-In seeds are yet to be determined:

Group Stage: 

• A: Evil Geniuses, Gaimin Gladiators, PSG.LGD, Team Spirit, TBDx4
• B: BetBoom Team, Shopify Rebellion, Talon Esports, Tundra Esports, TBDx4

Finally, the last standing 12 teams fight through a double elimination bracket. All matches are BO3, starting on July 25th, ending with a BO5 Grand Final on July 30th.

Compared to the other Group, Group A seems to be more clearcut compared to Group B.

Firstly, the favourite is as clear as daylight, with Team Liquid placing third at last year’s TI 2022, maintaining their form in the most competitive Dota 2 region – WEU.

Meanwhile, Team Aster from China will be going toe to toe with Entity with both teams almost equally favoured for the second seed according to the esports odds. However, Aster has the edge considering their impressive international experience.

3. beastcoast (20.0)
4. OG (28.0)
5. Xtreme Gaming (28.0)
6. Team Secret (33.0)

This next group has a much tighter group of teams as evident by the outright odds provided by the esports betting site.

Placing fourth at the Bali Major, Quest Esports are favoured by the odds to come out on top in Group B. Yet, not by a mile, as 9Pandas (former HellRaisers) are a formidable team from Europe who’ve beaten some of the best teams in the world.
