So, you have bested all there is to defeat in Monster Hunter Rise have you? Think you are pretty big after all that? Well, I’ve got some news for you. The job is only half complete, as a fresh batch of monsters need hunting. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak – the massive add-on full of massive monsters – is out now for Xbox and PlayStation.

Having already earned the title of ‘Fierce Flame of Kamura’, this is not a time to rest on your laurels. Set sail for Elgado Outpost to take down the Three Lords: Malzeno, Lunagaron and Garangolm. Even their names sound threatening.

But it won’t just be new monsters that need taking down. There will be lots of returning monsters from the franchise, including plenty that are exclusive to this DLC.

Obviously, that sounds exciting but in order to access this new area and expansion, players will have to have completed the 7-star Hub quests “Serpent Goddess of Thunder”. This in itself is quite the achievement, and the reward will be even tougher monsters to take down.

As well as the new hub area with plenty of new characters to get to know, the Wirebug that has become one of your closest allies in the main game will help strengthen your attacks with new abilities. You will need all the firepower you can get to take down some of the toughest monsters in the entirety of Monster Hunter Rise.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is on the Xbox Store now priced at £32.98. This comes with new layered armour for both your Palico and Palamute:  Striped Cat Costume and Loyal Dog Costume respectively. There is also a Deluxe Edition for Sunbreak, priced at £39.98 that comes with the following:

  • “Dragonsbane” hunter layered armor set
  • “C Hound” Palamute layered armor set
  • “F Devout” Palico layered armor set
  • “Take Aim” gesture set (4 gestures)
  • Fight Pose Set (3 poses)
  • “Elegant Eyes” makeup
