planet cube edge

When the most peaceful of cube-shaped worlds is disrupted by an unknown force, it calls on the most highly skilled of square-heads to save it. And that’s where you come in.

Planet Cube: Edge drops players into a world on the brink, one in which a single lab technician can save the day. That guy is Edge, the world is Planet Cube, and things come together as you help this little hero traverse and navigate his way through an underwater science facility, all in hope of saving the day.

As you’d expect to hear, Planet Cube: Edge from Sunna Entertainment and Firestoke isn’t going to bring the most simple of gameplay ideas to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch or PC, instead opting for the tried and tested method of taxing the player’s skills as much as possible.

It’s sold as a high-speed, high-skill, pixel-arted platformer adventure, one that is as fluid to traverse as it is detailed. No less than eight of the finest stages await, as you meet a variety of characters, take on hordes of enemies and go about dodging ALL the hazards and obstacles that are in your way.

A beautiful looking game for what it is, the power of Planet Cube: Edge is found in many aspects; from the light-hearted delivery of the story, to the quirky characters, tough challenge and need for quick responses, all as you look to help little Edge save the world. In fact, it’s those graphics and gameplay features that are key…

  • – Gameplay –
    • Run, gun, jump and dash through an underwater science complex, collecting fire-power to turn the tables on mysterious aggressors. This is high-speed, high-skill platforming action, where quick responses and unlimited respawns will see you battle through hordes of invading enemies, dodging hazards and avoiding traps in a bid to save this world. Set across eight, beautifully hand-crafted pixel art levels, and filled with quirky and memorable characters, Planet Cube: Edge is a fun, run and gun platformer filled with challenge and replayability.
  • – Graphics –
    • A pixel-art lover’s dream, this two-tone underwater side of the Planet Cube has been crafted with meticulous care. From the distant seascapes of the ocean floor, to smallest details of the science facility, every pixel has been placed with the utmost attention to detail. This is a world of expressive and characterful cubes, invaded by a race of highly imaginative enemies with an arsenal that ranges from crusher-tanks to massive mechanical crabs. But more than just pixels, prepare for fluid animations with a cinematic heart, where the gravitas of the story is skillfully offset with a light-hearted delivery, bringing smiles and feel-good moments at every step in the adventure.

We’re mid-point of our review process and will let you know how Planet Cube: Edge plays on Xbox real soon. With full Smart Delivery and Xbox Series X|S optimisation in house, it should matter little as to whether you are playing this on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.

For now, the Xbox Store awaits your £12.49 cash. You’ll find Planet Cube: Edge on PlayStation, Switch and PC through Steam too.
