Do you remember Elevator Action Returns from the mid-1990s? Nah, us neither. We’re not particularly sure we want to play the S-Tribute version here in 2022 either.
Available as the latest retro title to be reworked and ported to modern day consoles and PC is Elevator Action -Returns- S-Tribute. Pushed out by the CITY CONNECTION team (they behind the snappily titled Cleopatra Fortune S-Tribute and the likes of Gunbird and Samurai Aces over the last few months), Elevator Action -Returns- S-Tribute takes what first released decades back on SEGA Saturn and in the arcades, and thrusts it in front of the eyes of modern day players.
It’s priced at £12.49, which feels fairly hefty for what is a three decade old game, but it is what it is and only you can decide whether the retro feels you’ll get from a purchase will be worth it.
If you do drop in, then expect to find a game that has you stage clearing, over and over again. Do so, make good your escape and you’ll discover that Elevator Action -Returns- S-Tribute will even let you play the first game in the series too – Elevator Action.
Of course, there’s not a chance in hell that CITY CONNECTION would just port this in to Xbox without making a change or two and that’s the case here. Expect to find modern day features, like a Rewind, a Save option, Stage Select and the increase in Lives should you so need it.

Game Description:
Elevator Action Returns was originally released as a 2D side-scrolling shooter game by Taito in 1995. This game is a reproduction of the home console version released by Bing in 1997. Select one of three special forces members—Kart Bradfield, Edie Burret, or Jad the Taff—then start the game. Grab data from all the red doors, then escape the stage. When every stage has been cleared, players will also be able to play the first game in the series, Elevator Action (single player only).
